Call for Submissions

DOXA and VIFF 2020 have proven that COVID-19 can’t keep a good festival down so fire up your creative engine and go make some magic on screen.

Crazy8s Film Society is pleased to announce that it will be launching the 22nd year of Crazy8s, Vancouver’s annual 8 day filmmaking challenge.

Submissions for Crazy8s 2021 are open to submit until October 28, 2020 at www.crazy8s.film

Rogers + Creative BC Documentary and Factual Development Fund

Creative BC and the Rogers Group of Funds are pleased to offer support to encourage the development of motion picture projects in the documentary series and factual series formats. More info here.

Creative BC + CBC Digital Production Fund

CBC and Creative BC have delivered a micro-budget production fund to support the creation of video content from BC producers and creators to be showcased in connection with CBC’s digital platforms. More info here.

Bell Fund – Short Form Digital Series Non-Fiction

The purpose of the Program is to fund original digital video for online distribution, specifically the production of scripted non-fiction (i.e. documentary and lifestyle/factual programming). Only series will be supported, with a maximum length of 15 minutes per episode and a minimum of 6 episodes. More info here.

Bell Fund – Slate Development

The purpose of the Slate Development program is to help independent production companies diversify their development slate both in terms of numbers of projects and variety of platforms and media by offering financial support for the planning and development of original intellectual property (“IP”). ITVS Short-Form Open Call

ITVS is launching its latest round of nonfiction funding for shorts and series, and projects can be in development or production. More info here.

ScreenCraft Film Fund Deadline – Nov 30

Supporting  Film Projects with grants up to $30,000

Whether you have a simple screenplay or a film that’s already in production, we want to consider it for our grant program. We consider a range of projects, from standalone screenplays, to fully packaged projects seeking finishing funds.

If your aspirations are solely to become a produced screenwriter, you can rely on ScreenCraft and BondIt to package the winning script with a talented director and in-house production resources with up to $30,000 in cash financing, judged on a case-by-case basis, depending on each project’s budget and needs as determined by an internal jury of industry professionals. Film Incentive BC Tax Credit

A refundable labour based incentive for Canadian productions.

FIBC is a refundable corporate income tax credit. When filing tax returns, your corporation may claim a specified percentage of the labour costs incurred while making a production. The credits are applied to reduce tax payable, and any remaining balance is paid to the corporation. More info here.
