What’s your name and your usual job title(s)?

Jackie Sidoni. I’m currently the Senior Post and Media Technician at Rainmaker Studios. I’ve been called an Assistant Editor, an Editor, a Post Production Supervisor and a Head of Post Production. Recently I was referred to as Postess with the Mostess, so let’s add that too.

How did you get started working in factual TV?

Editing for Big Red Barn in Delta. It was my first job out of BCIT back in the 90’s. They taught me a lot about post production and I am very grateful for the experience.

What do you consider to be your career highlight(s)?

Favorite series to work on were Border Security and Murder She Solved. The most fun I had editing were shows for The Comedy Network. I enjoy keeping up with the forever-changing technology in post production. Figuring out the perfect solution for a workflow, bringing an Avid back to life and delivering the final episode of a series can be some of the best moments. (Of course there is always a credit fix a few days later, but still.) I’ve worked on so many amazing shows and have met a lot of talented people along the way. The friendships I’ve made are definitely the true highlight for me.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve had to do working in factual TV?

I threw a master tape off the balcony to our post production supervisor. He was in the alley with his car running, hoping to make it to the airport on time. It aired the next day.

What’s something interesting/unusual about you that most people don’t know?

I was a drummer in a punk rock band that wore costumes on stage.

What’s your ultimate career aspiration?

To always be surrounded by good people no matter what I do or where I work. Eventually I would like to look back at my career and be proud of what I’ve achieved and know that I laughed a lot and had a good time.
